Miles Standish was the owner of a hotel in Winoka, and the new Employer of Charles for a time. He forced the Ingalls to work for him for cheap pay and hard work. His hotel was later blown up accidentally by his son. Charles Ingalls and Jonathan Garvey then decided to resign and return to Walnut Grove.
