Maury Dexter (born June 12, 1928-died May 28, 2017) was an Arkansas born director who worked on Little House on the Prairie. In total, he directed 21 and produced 73 episodes of Little House, as well as some of Michael Landon's other projects, Us, Highway to Heaven, Sam's Son, etc.

Life and career[]

Born Morris Gene Poindexter in Paris, Arkansas to William Henry and Emma (neƩ Foster) Poindexter, Maury has three brothers, Foster , William, Jr. and James.

Dexter got his start as an actor in The Three Stooges short, Uncivil War Birds (1946).

A member of the Director's Guild of America (DGA) since 1956, Maury once directed 20 films in a year's time for 20th Century Fox. By the 1960's, he had his own production company, but the apex of his career came when he became a director for Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven.

Death[]

Dexter died in Simi Valley, California at the age of 89.
