This page is a complete list of episodes for the NBC Little House on the Prairie television series.
Series notes and overview[]
There is no account that the series episodes do not follow a chronological order. In the fourth season episode “A most precious gift”, Caroline visits the grave of her deceased son, who passed away during the first season. The grave marks the date of August 1876, matching the real one. However, the second season episode “Centennial” is set on July 1876 and no character mentions him throughout the episode. Assuming the character was actually present in the episode without ever appearing, one possible justification would indicate that the episodes are mismatched and are not consecutive one another, at least in the first three seasons; a second explanation would suggest that most of the episodes actually follow a chronological order except for the holiday-event episodes, which air to correspond with the actual related holiday, in detail:
- “Christmas at Plum Creek” (season 1), Christmas special;
- “Centennial” (season 2), Fourth of July special;
- ”The monster of Walnut Grove” (season 3), Halloween special;
- ”Blizzard” (season 3), Christmas special;
- ”Little House Years” (season 6), Thanksgiving special;
- ”A Christmas they never forgot” (season 8), Christmas special.
