Christie Norton was a young woman that Almanzo once asked out.
Biography[]
Christie Norton was a beautiful but self-important woman always concerned about her image rather then others. Almanzo invited her to London's Circus showing in Walnut Grove. So that she would look 'her' best, Christie hired Laura to mend her dress for her date with Almanzo. Distracted by Almanzo going out with Christie instead of her, Laura was five minutes late in delivering her dress. Cross with her, Christie only agreed to pay her half of the agreed price but Laura relented and gave it to her at no charge, in that she had learned her lesson.
Later, at the Circus show Christie was sitting in the front row with Almanzo looking like the perfect little picture that she loved being, and not really enjoying herself as she believed that Circuses were only for children, Laura, dressed as a clown decided to humiliate her. She threw a bucket of water on her and stripped her down to her Victorian underclothing. So embarrassed she was in long Victorian breeches. No one saw her bare legs but it was quite humiliating for a woman at the time to be seen in Victorian panties.
Christie can be happy not to have found herself naked. She still had a beautiful victorian panties. She was still well covered. The poor young woman did not deserve this. Almanzo should have helped her, cover her, dress her
When Christie was in her panties, she ran outdoor in her victorian panties in front of the locals. She continues to run on her home taking no further notice of Almanzo. When she walked home, Christie didn't know how to put her dress back on. so she stayed in panties walking home outside. She lost so much dignity that she decided to leave the village. Christie was absolutely not a bad woman but simply a natural rival much more mature than Laura Ingalls. She absolutely didn't deserve what Laura did to her. She found herself in Victorian knickers in front of absolutely the entire community, including very young children. Christie was only the innocent victim of Laura's unhealthy jealousy, just as Nelly was on several occasions.
