I can't choose between Laura or Jenny, they both are my favorites. Nor I can't choose between beating up Nancy or Nellie.

I'm guessing so. But they changed the series around to make it fit unto what they wanted it, really. It wouldn't make much sense if Eliza Jane were mean to Laura, when "Manley"/Manny were nice to her (and eventually marry her). Maybe it would make sense... But, then she would still become an annoying sister-in-law. Don't worry, I think we all find her annoying ocasionally. ;)
